About
Kia ora, I'm Aidan. Originally from New Zealand, now based in Singapore and Bali. I've been building software since high school and spent most of my career as a CTO and product leader for early-stage startups across Australia and New Zealand.
I started this site because I kept seeing the same pattern: AI was moving fast, the media coverage was either too technical or too hyped, and business owners were left trying to figure out what any of it actually meant for them. I write to close that gap. Practical takes, no jargon, with a clear view on what's worth your attention and what isn't.
I'm Co-Founder, CTO & CPO at SortMe, a fintech app using AI, open banking, and behavioural psychology to help people build better financial habits. We're changing the way people think about and interact with money.
Alongside SortMe, I work with a small number of clients on AI strategy and technical leadership. Helping teams figure out where AI can genuinely improve their operations, and leading the implementation when they're ready to move.
I've played the fractional CTO role for a handful of companies across different industries: freight and logistics, fintech, property management, portfolio analytics, and e-commerce returns. The common thread has always been using technology to remove friction from real-world business problems.
Most AI coverage is written for people already inside the industry. I write for business owners who aren't. People who need to understand enough to make good decisions, delegate well, and avoid getting burned by vendors promising miracles. If you read something here and it gives you one thing to think about or one thing to try, it's done its job.
